The best time to visit Windsor Island Resort is generally from late winter through mid-spring (February to May) and again from late September to November, when you’ll enjoy pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
Orlando is a year-round destination, but summer (July–September) and the festive holiday period are the busiest times, especially for families travelling during school breaks.
If you’re looking for a quieter stay, January to March and late September through Thanksgiving tend to be calmer. Windsor Island Resort is very close to Disney World, with Epcot being just 6.7 miles away. It takes under 20 minutes to drive from the resort to any of the Disney parks.
Windsor Island does not currently offer a shuttle service from the resort to Disney World, but it is still very easy to get to the parks. We recommend renting a car for your Orlando vacation because this will give you the most amount of freedom and opportunity to visit all of Orlando's fantastic attractions. Orlando International Airport (MCO) is very close to Windsor Island Resort, with a driving time of 25 minutes between the two. The 20.3-mile journey involves toll roads, so make sure that you have your preferred form of payment ready before you set off from the airport.
Driving is the easiest way to get from the airport to the resort, and also has the benefit of giving you the freedom to explore Orlando during your stay.
You can either pick up a rental car from the airport, or you can organize your car hire through our Concierge team. If driving isn’t for you, we can also arrange for a private transfer to take you from the Arrivals Hall to the door of your Windsor Island Resort rental.

Disney World can be reached in under 20 minutes, and Universal Studios is also close, at less than 30 minutes drive away. If you fancy a relaxing day outdoors, there are many beautiful parks near Windsor Island, such as Longmeadow Park and Hippodrome Park which are the perfect places for a picnic within 10 minutes walking distance from the resort.
There are also many fantastic restaurants catering to every taste near Windsor Island Resort. From irresistible Asian cuisine at Thai Thani to burritos and fajitas at Avocado Mexican Grill and American classics at Celebration Town Tavern, there are countless options for quick meals and special dinners.
