In the local area, you will also find a bustling atmosphere with restaurants, cafes, bars and shops at the sand’s edge. For a visit to a unique beach you will never forget, head to the south of the island to find Maho Beach, which is famous for being so closely located to the island’s main airport, that it feels like you might be able to touch the incoming planes, if only you could jump just that little bit higher!
Aside from the beaches, there are plenty of activities within easy reach across the whole island, including adventure parks like Rainforest Adventures, snorkeling and horseback riding sites such as the Seaside Nature Park, as well as cultural spots such as the Amuseum Naturalis at The Old House, and beautifully conserved natural areas that are perfect for a stroll in the sunshine.

When it comes to finding some of that wonderful food Saint Martin is known for, there are one or two restaurants dotted around in the area of Happy Bay. However, we recommend taking a trip to the nearby area of Grand Case, less than ten minutes by car eastward along the coast. Here, you will find a plethora of wonderful eateries, many offering incredible views of the pristine coastline. We recommend the popular Captain Frenchy, which boasts wonderful views over the ocean, and performances on Saturday nights. The elegant Shambala is perfect for an intimate dinner for two with the night sea-breeze brushing your skin, and if you’re in the mood for Italian, Il Patio SKM is also nearby. The Restaurant L’Auberge Gourmande is one of the highest rated in the area, and when it’s time to wash it all down with a drink in a trendy bar, we recommend Quai 58, or Max’s Place.
