Fuerteventura vacation rentals
Beautiful Fuerteventura is one of the Canary Islands; a rugged archipelago of sun-drenched vacation spots famous for their dramatic volcanic landscapes and year-round sunshine. Located off the west coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, Fuerteventura benefits from a subtropical, desert-like climate and over 3000 hours of sunshine every year. This makes it a great winter sun destination. It was also declared a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2009, owing to the island’s unique landscapes.
Our Fuerteventura vacation rentals are the perfect places from which to explore this remarkable island. Traditionally Canarian in style, our Fuerteventura villas sleep up to 8 guests and are ideal for family vacations. With fabulous facilities including private pools and game areas, these stunning rentals give you the luxury of a Fuerteventura hotel with the peace and privacy of a vacation rental.
Fuerteventura attractions
Fuerteventura’s rugged and otherworldly landscapes provide many exciting and must-see excursions on the island. The most well-known are the mighty sand dunes of Corralejo, the largest dunes in the Canary Islands, stretching for miles along the coast and bordered by sparkling sea and imposing volcanic rocks. It is one of the most dramatic landscapes in Fuerteventura and is easily accessed by public bus from Corralejo, a popular tourist area.
More breathtaking nature is on display in Isla de Lobos, a short water taxi ride away from Corralejo. It is a protected nature reserve, with fantastic snorkeling and swimming spots as well as recent archaeological dig sites revealing the island’s Roman past. Fuerteventura, like all the Canary Islands, is a bit of a cetacean highway, meaning that there is a good chance of spotting wild dolphins and whales on a boat trip around the coastline. Other marine life living in nutrient-rich waters include stingrays and sea turtles.
Food and drink in Fuerteventura
Being surrounded by the ocean and heavily influenced by Mediterranean and African cuisine, the food in Fuerteventura is varied and delicious. A local delicacy is papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes), a moreish snack or appetizer that has become a Canarian food staple. They are often served with the signature sauce, mojo picon, which is made with olive oil, garlic, vinegar, cumin, and paprika, and can be served with almost anything.
Popular restaurants in Fuerteventura include La Villa in Villaverde, El Bounty Puerto De Rosario, which is known for delectable seafood platters, and The Ugly Duckling in Corralejo, where you can enjoy fine Scandinavian-inspired food.
