With so much to see and do at Championsgate, it can be difficult to tear yourself away from the comforts of the resort. However, there’s loads of fun stuff to discover in the surrounding area, from world-class theme parks and water parks to upscale restaurants and designer shopping malls. Here are some of the places that should appear on your itinerary next time you visit the resort.
Get white knuckles at the theme parks near Championsgate
Championsgate is in a super-peaceful location, but it’s actually just 6 miles from the scream rides at Walt Disney World. While you’re in the area, make time for a visit to Universal Studios, home to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, or Legoland Florida, which stretches across a huge, 150-acre site. If you’ve got a head for heights, try the Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park, where you can whizz through the treetops on ziplines and Tarzan swings.
Go shopping near Championsgate
Championsgate has its very own shopping complex complete with a spa and a handful of designer boutiques. Drop into Sunrise Sunset for kids’ toys, resort wear, and presents for loved ones back home. The golf store at Championsgate’s clubhouse has all the gear you need for a rewarding round on one of the resort’s 18-hole courses.
For longer retail therapy sessions, head to one of the big shopping malls near Championsgate. Celebration Town Center is just 8 miles from the resort, offering hand-made gifts and clothing, as well as treats and souvenirs for shoppers of all ages.
At Disney Springs, flashy boutiques selling art, apparel and Disney-branded merchandise sit alongside lively bars and restaurants. You’ll find the highest concentration of luxury fashion brands at The Mall at Millenia, just 24 miles from the resort.
Make a splash at Florida’s water parks
Florida’s climate is perfect for splashing about in the sun, and some of the world’s best water parks are within easy reach of the Championsgate resort.
At Disney’s Blizzard Beach, which is styled like a ski resort, you can choose from dozens of water slides and pools. Take the ‘ski lift’ to the top of Mount Gushmore and then hurtle down the ‘ski jump’, the water park’s tallest and most exhilarating flume.
Stay in one of our luxury vacation rentals and you’ll also have access to all of the attractions at Championsgate’s own water park. Spray guns, waterfalls and fountains line the lazy river, and kids will love riding the corkscrew-shaped slide. The formal pool is ideal for relaxing swims.
