Disney World Halloween Tickets

Disney World Halloween 2024 festivities kick off with Disney World Halloween Decorations up from August, with the magical Fall atmosphere and special events through September and Halloween until early November. Those looking to explore the parks in the fall are in for tricks and treats galore!

When does Disney World decorate for Halloween?

Decorations for the Halloween festivities go up from August 11. Then, throughout October, the park brings out all the tricks and treats with exclusive and immersive Disney World Halloween decorations. As the Halloween season approaches, Magic Kingdom decks out Main Street, U.S.A. with charming scarecrows, Jack-o’-lanterns, and even a floral display featuring Mickey Mouse in a masquerade mask at the park’s entrance. The Walt Disney World Monorails join in on the spooky fun, sporting purple and orange undercarriage lights during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
For all your Disney World Halloween party needs our Concierge team is happy to help! They know all the ‘tricks’ to ‘treat’ your family to the ultimate Disney World Halloween 2024 experience, from arranging park transportation and discounted park tickets to special meet-and-greets, themed party decorations, and private chef experience back at your vacation rental.

Disney World Halloween Costumes

Children aged 0-13 are allowed to wear costumes, but masks must not restrict peripheral vision, with openings that allow the eyes to be fully seen.

For ages 14+, children and adults, costumes are not allowed, with the exception of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This event is one of the only times costumes are permitted in the park, but with some conditions. So dress up as your favorite character but

  • Do not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
  • Keep your costumes family-friendly (nothing offensive, objectionable, or violent).
  • Don’t take any props or accessories, especially items that could be mistaken for an actual weapon. Leave your Thor hammers at home! This also includes anything pointy on your costume.
  • Costume props that surround the entire body are strongly discouraged and may hold you up at security screening.
  • No big capes or ball gowns – costumes cannot reach or drag on the ground. Short waist-length capes are ok.
  • No masks.

So what can you wear for a Disney World Halloween Costume?

Themed Disney World Halloween shirts, T-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts, and hats are all fine. And to accessorize, take your transparent wings, plastic light sabers, toy swords, and tutus. While masks are not allowed you are allowed to wear costume headwear as long as it doesn’t cover your face.

Magic Kingdom Halloween

Magic Kingdom Halloween Decorations

Aside from the intoxicating whirlwind of costumes, parades, and fireworks, the Magic Kingdom Halloween decorations themselves promise a spell-binding experience. On Main Street U.S.A, creepy goings-on abound, with scarecrows, garlands, fall-inspired scenes, and unique Jack-o’-lanterns. In Liberty Square, you’ll be able to take in the haunting Halloween atmosphere, with a traditional display of fall leaves, pumpkins, cornsticks, sunflowers, and other natural decorations to set the scene.

Magic Kingdom fans will also spot Halloween-themed ride overlays and ramped-up rides for 2024, including an eerily pitch-black Space Mountain ride, and a scarily good Mad Tea Party ride overlay with freakish lighting, sounds and music. The aptly named Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor at Magic Kingdom also sees a snappier, spooky-themed version of its show for Halloween.
