12. Tour the Kennedy Space Center

You can’t miss Wonderworks Orlando, even if you try – it’s the only building along International Drive that’s upside down! The huge mansion is home to 100+ hands-on exhibits set across 6 wonder zones covering the themes of natural disasters, light & sound, space discovery, physical challenges, optical illusions and imagination. General admission is $25.99 for kids and $34.99 for adults. Kids age 3 and under go free.
16. Go indoor skydiving
If you’re looking for fun things to do in Orlando with kids, it doesn’t get much cooler than indoor skydiving. Kids will be blown away, literally, when they take a dive at the impressive I Fly skydiving simulator. This is as close as you can get to experiencing exactly how it feels to jump out of a plane, but without the parachute and pre-jump nerves.

The Big Fu*kin’ Doughnut served at Valkyrie is equivalent to around 24 normal ones – and it’s square, too. These whoppers cost $30 and are available by order only, 48 hours in advance. Another inventive choice is the Doughnut Sammich, a giant square doughnut sliced in half and stuffed with a brick of ice cream.
The venue also also offers a selection of tasty beverages to pair with your favorite doughnuts including coffee, sodas, energy drinks and nut milk. There’s bar seating inside and a bench outside for customers with dogs. Although it’s not technically one of the most unusual things you can do in Orlando, it is certainly one of the most unusual things you can eat!
20. Embark on a Serengeti Safari

A top spot for tubing, Kelly Park features a free-flowing natural spring and a crystal clear creek where you can float the days away. You can bring your own tubes or rent one from just outside the park. Park admission is $3 per vehicle for 1-2 people and $5 for 3-8 people.
25. Drive down to the Everglades
Located a few hours south of Orlando, the Everglades National Park offers up-close views of alligators and crocodiles, as well as walking tours, airboat tours, bike trips and canoeing excursions. Entrance is around $20 per car and is valid for 7 consecutive days.
26. Enjoy a day at Central Florida Zoo in Orlando
Treat yourself and your family to a fun day out at Central Florida Zoo. The zoo is home to more than 400 animals including some of the rarest and most endangered species on Earth. 28. Hit the beach
A trip to the beach will always be one of the best things to do for families, and in Orlando you’re not far from some of Florida’s best options. Cocoa Beach is located about one hour east of the city and has large picnic pavilions, scenic walkways and outdoor showers and restrooms. 29. Picnic by a swan-filled lake
This 43-acre oasis in the heart of Downtown Orlando offers spectacular views over the city’s iconic skyline. You can eat a picnic next to the lake, feed the resident swans, enjoy one of the many free concerts at the amphitheater, or pop by the farmer’s market on Sundays. 30. See a rocket launch – for free!
If you don’t mind driving you should take the kids on a day trip to the Space Coast. At Cocoa Beach Pier or one of the many other Space Coast beaches you’ll get a great view of a live rocket launch from the Kennedy Space Center. All of the Space Coast beaches are within 100 miles of Orlando so you’ll easily make it there and back on one tank of gas.
31. Visit the largest library in Florida
You can take the kids for a fun day of reading, computing and fun activities at the Orange County Library. There are Early Literacy Stations that provide access to a wide variety of learning software in the areas of English, math, science, and the arts. Entrance is free.

Spectators of all ages are invited to watch hundreds of street performers in action at Orlando’s amazing Immerse festival. Held in Downtown Orlando each year, the event features an array of interactive, immersive and inspiring experiences. Whether it’s a concert pianist being pushed through the streets on a mini stage, or acrobats performing gravity-defying stunts above City Hall, the whole family are sure to be impressed – plus entry is free.
33. Spend an evening at Citywalk
Also free of charge to get in is Universal’s Citywalk entertainment complex, Universal’s answer to Disney Springs.. A mix of shopping, restaurants and entertainment attractions, this is a great place to take the teens for an evening out, with enough to do to fill a whole day if you wanted to. The venue has free self-parking after 6pm and is located adjacent to Universal Studios.

34. Christmas at the theme parks
Orlando’s famous theme parks are an absolute must-visit for families during the holidays. Disney World, Universal and the other main parks all bring the season to life with spectacular decorations, parties, parades and fireworks displays. Highlights include Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Epcot’s International Festival of the Holidays, both at Disney World, the Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular and Macy’s Parade at Universal, and Legoland’s Christmas Bricktacular. Over the Independence Day weekend you’ll find non-stop celebrations and parties all over Orlando. There are special events on at all of the theme parks, there’s also a free fireworks and laser show at Lake Eola Park, a huge Independence Day bash at Baldwin Park, a light show at Icon Orlando, a fireworks show at Celebration town center, plus an abundance of other celebrations. 36. Mardi Gras at Universal
If you’re visiting with the kids in spring you’ll be in time for the lively Mardi Gras celebrations at Universal which run from early February through April.
37. Family friendly Halloween parties
The mildest Halloween celebrations can be found at Disney World in the form of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party which costs around $85 per ticket and is held on select nights from August through October. At Legoland there’s Brick-or-Treat, also great for little ones, and at Universal there’s Halloween Horror Nights which is for older and more hardened horror fans. 38. Kids New Year’s Eve
Kids can enjoy all the fun of New Year’s Eve but with a sensible bedtime at Legoland’s special Kid’s New Year’s Eve. Run on ‘Kids Standard Time (KST)’ the the event features dance parties, scavenger hunts, brick building and a dazzling fireworks finale. On New Year’s Eve the countdown takes place at the very kid-friendly hour of 8pm also known as midnight (KST)!

39. Experience movie-inspired rides
Visitors can also make the most of other movie-inspired attractions at Universal including Transformers: The Ride 3D, Skull Island: Reign of Kong and Men in Black: Alien Attack, to name a few. There are more incredible movie-inspired rides that teens are sure to want to ride again and again, at Universal Studios, than it is possible to fit into a single trip!
40. Brave the world’s tallest swing
You’ll also find other unique attractions at Icon Orlando such as the Orlando Starflyer, which was once the world’s tallest swing ride before it was overtaken by a ride in Dubai. You and the kids can tackle this incredible ride – if you dare! Choose to ride in day time or amongst the glow of the night – either way, the view is sure to be amazing, if you can stop screaming for long enough to take it all in!
41. Do a movie night at Harry Leu
If you time your trip to Harry Leu Gardens right you’ll be able to catch an outdoor movie. Movie-goers can bring their own blankets, lawn chairs and picnic dinners (including alcohol for the adults) and snuggle up for an evening movie shown on a huge outdoor cinema screen. There are also a number of vendors on-site selling pizzas, ice cream and other refreshments.
42. Or at Winter Park
Another great movie night is Popcorn Flicks in the Park, held on the second Thursday of each month at Winter Park. The film series features classic films for the whole family, totally free of charge. Shows typically start at 8pm and are accompanied by complimentary popcorn for all.
43. Brave the tallest drop ride in North America
When you’re looking for things for teens to do in Orlando, it doesn’t get much better than having a go on the tallest drop ride in North America.
You may think you’ve ridden some high roller coasters, but nothing can prepare you for the 335-foot-tall Falcon’s Fury drop ride. Located at Busch Gardens in Tampa this ride will meet every thrill-seeker’s expectations.
You’ll feel your heart beating out of your chest as you are lifted high up in the air for a full minute before you reach the top. The views are amazing, but before you can take it all in you’ll be plunged forward in a face-down dive position to stare at the ground far below.
An instant later you plunge straight down at a gut-wrenching 60 mph! With no connecting structures this is the tallest freestanding drop tower in North America. And it’s definitely not for the faint hearted!
44. Solve a crime
Teams of up to 5 players can work together to solve ‘crimes’ at the innovative Escapology attraction in Orlando. Can you complete your mission in the Cuban Crisis game? Channel you inner detective in Budapest Express or rescue a US Navy submarine in Under Pressure? The whole family are welcome.
45. Go mountain biking
You won’t find any mountains in Central Florida but you will find plenty of places where you can take your mountain bike off-road. Hal Scott Preserve has 17 miles of trails which are mostly flat so make for an easy ride for younger kids. Wekiwa Springs State Park also has some great biking trails including its main trail, which is nearly 8 miles long. You’ll be grateful for a swim in the natural spring after a long day of riding.
46. See a classic car cruise
You can also enjoy weekly family-friendly events at Old Town including America’s longest-running weekly car show and cruise every Saturday. Check out hundreds of classic cars followed by the Saturday Night Classic Car Cruise starting at 8.30pm.
47. Visit a motorsports stadium
Also on the east coast is the Daytona International Speedway which offers daily track tours and is home to the champion Daytona 500 car and the Motorsports Hall of Fame. In addition to at least 9 major event weekends, the Speedway grounds are used for concerts, car shows and other fun goings on.
48. Catch a football game
Camping World Stadium in Downtown Orlando plays host to some of the biggest football games in the state. There’s the NFL Pro Bowl, the Camping World Bowl and the High School Championships to name a few.
